About. NRDC works to safeguard the earth—its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. NRDC combines the power of more than three million members and online activists with the expertise of some 700 scientists, lawyers, and policy advocates across the globe to ensure the rights of all people to the air, the water, and the wild. Fighting climate change by cutting carbon pollution and expanding clean energy is the best way to build a better world for our communities and future generations. NRDC is tackling the climate crisis at its source: pollution from fossil fuels. They work to reduce our dependence on these dirty sources by expanding clean energy across cities, states, and nations, wins court cases that allow the federal government to limit carbon pollution from cars and power plants, helps implement practical clean energy solutions, and fights oil and gas projects that would pump out even more pollution. https://www.nrdc.org/
Recent Accomplishments.
- The NRDC made significant progress in drinking water protections in 2023, leading to the EPA’s proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements, which bring the US closer than ever before to removing lead at water taps across the country and “set the stage for how the entire nation will address lead in drinking water for years to come.”
- In January 2023, the U.S. Forest Service responded to the ongoing advocacy of the NRDC and restored full protections for nine million acres of the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, reversing a 2020 decision by the Trump administration to exempt the Tongass from the Roadless Rule.
- Through relentless efforts, the NRDC helped convince the EPA to veto the Pebble Mine project in Alaska by granting petitions to ban the disposal of mining waste in Bristol Bay.
- Other important accomplishments include Michigan’s “Filter First” bill, New York’s “All-Electric” Building Act, and the DOT’s suspension of the very dangerous transportation of liquid natural gas in the Northeast.

Why EcoBrands supports the National Resources Defense Council. “Fossil fuels – coal, oil and gas – are by far the largest contributor to global climate change, accounting for over 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90% of all carbon dioxide emissions. As greenhouse gas emissions blanket the Earth, they trap the sun's heat. This leads to global warming and climate change. The world is now warming faster than at any point in recorded history. Warmer temperatures over time are changing weather patterns and disrupting the usual balance of nature. This poses many risks to human beings and all other forms of life on Earth.”1 We now have the ability to create power naturally and cleanly, so why isn’t clean energy everywhere? The answer, in short, is political red tape and big oil companies, which is where NRDC thankfully comes in and why EcoBrands supports it wholeheartedly. Please help the cause of the NRDC by supporting your state and local government’s initiatives to expand clean energy, and of course, by making the choice to live sustainably.
As always, thank you sincerely for reading. We wish you all the best on your path to sustainable living, as we continue on our own!
